In August we looked at "Herbs for the Family", in
particular recipes to cope with common family ailments such as colds,
coughs, sore throats and simple first aid as well as disguising herbs in
baths or syrups to ease fractious children and depressed teenagers. One of
the participants had recently been badly bruised during a blood test, so two
hot, yarrow compresses were applied over the bruised area for several hours.
She was very pleased and surprised to report later that the bruising soon
disappeared over the next few days, aided, she was certain, by the
application of the yarrow.
