We tried to visit the Sanctuary in February, but the freezing conditions and biting wind made it unworkable and we stayed mostly in Solihull. I did go stone circle hunting in Somerset and Wiltshire at the end of the month, braving snow showers and intensely cold conditions. One interesting thing I saw whilst away was at least four trees in different parts of the two counties covered in mistletoe, something I’ve never seen in the Midlands. Here is a picture of trees hosting mistletoe at the base of Glastonbury Tor.
